Ever feel stressed for time? I sure know I do! I wake up, tackle a few things on my to-do list, cuddle my hunnies, feast and then crash into my bed at the end of the night. Wake up the next day, and do it all over again. For awhile, I felt like my to-do list was never ending, my house was always messy, and the gym was being neglected. If I add in all those “extras” that were sucking up my time, I felt like nothing was getting accomplished, yet, time was passing me by.

Not to mention all of life’s other distractions – work, kids, social media. It’s so easy to get distracted and the next thing I know, 30 minutes have flown by and I know I’m not alone. Now that the new year has rolled in, I’ve been reevaluating how I manage my time while also harnessing my social media cravings.

3 Savvy Ways to be More Productive:

  1. Make a To-Do List. And review that bad boy the night before. Anyone else feel mentally exhausted by the end of the day?! I sure am. Therefore, I like to spend my time on more relaxing activities in the evenings. I’ll usually bust out my next day’s to-do list so I can get a jump start on the day ahead. I always like being mentally prepared for the things I have to do the next day so that when I wake up the next morning, I can start charging ahead. If I wait until that morning, when I’m rested and ready to go, I feel like I’m losing valuable time to do work. Next…
  2. Plan your Outfits. I swear, I probably waste an hour of my morning just deciding on what I want to wear for the day. If anything, plan for the entire work week ahead! Check the weather, review your work schedule and base each outfit off of that day’s tasks. Plus, by planning ahead, you might just wear that blouse/sweater/dress you LOVE that has been parked at the back of the closet (maybe it’s time to clean out the closet, too), out of sight, out of mind. Lastly…
  3. Create an Action Plan. At the beginning of the year, I jotted down all my goals for the year. With those goals, I wrote down the actions I was going to take throughout the year to accomplish them. Then, I took it one step further. I created an action plan for the month of January, and will continue this each month. By doing so, I’m already ahead of where I was last year with my goals. The action plan is keeping me well motivated and reminding me that this is the year of WORK!

Bonus: Enjoy the cuddles! I know we can easily get sucked into the vortex of life. However, it’s so important to embrace the present and enjoy the company of our family, especially our littles – who won’t be little forever! So, yes, the floors can wait when your 4-year-old is asking to play Barbies with mommy.

This is something I’ve been really struggling with. The stress is real. However, there is always going to be work to do. Tackling daily tasks while embracing life’s little inconveniences is part of being a parent. Putting these strategies into place has helped ease the stress levels that go along with it all! What’re some ways you get more done during the day? I loved to hear other strategies!
